Travel destinations in Thailand – Part 16

It seems that no matter where you go in Thailand, you’re going to come across a huge amount of tourists. So if you want to have a little bit of paradise all to yourself, it’s always best to stay in towns or resorts that are a little off of the main towns. If you’re visiting the east coast of Thailand, two of the main spots you need to experience are the two islands of Ko Samui and Ko Pha-ngan. Ko Samui is relatively unspoiled with beautiful relaxing beaches and cheap hotels and bungalows, and it’s a quick 1 hour flight from Bangkok. If you want even more remote and cheap resorts, there’s Ko Pha-ngan. Although this is the site of the full moon party that takes place every month in Had Rin beach (with over 7,000 party-goers), the rest of the island is pretty isolated and even cheaper than Ko Samui. We stayed in Chaloklum beach on the other side of the island, which gave almost an entire beach all to ourselves… at an unbeatable price of $5 US Dollars per night for a bungalow.
