Online Poker Tournament – Part 1

Playing in an online poker tournament can be an exciting experience, especially when you win! Before playing in a tournament, however, you need to be sure that you are familiar with playing online poker, since it can be different than playing poker in a “real” setting. If you are just starting out in the online poker world, play a few friendly games first, or play some “fun” online poker games that don’t require risking any money.
Once you think you are ready to try playing in an online poker tournament, your next step is to figure out what type of tournament you would like to play in. One of the best ways to get your feet wet in online tournaments is to start by playing in a “freeroll”. Freeroll tournaments don’t require any entrance fee; you simply sign up for the tournament and play. The great thing about these tournaments, however, is that if you place high enough at the end, you usually win some actual money. Freeroll tournaments rarely have large cash prizes, though; if you want to win some real online poker tournament money, you’ll need to pay an entrance fee into one of the larger ones.
Entrance fees for an online poker tournament can be as low as $2 to as much as $1000 or more, depending on the cash prizes that can be awarded. Often, players will enter into an online poker tournament in hopes of winning entry into a real-time poker tournament, such as the World Series of Poker.

Review of Pure Play Poker
In the past few years a number of online poker rooms. They fall into these three categories;
1. Free poker sites where you play for fun and bragging rights
2. Those sites that allow players to deposit and play cash (these are affected by the online gaming ban that halted Americans gambling online in Oct2006 and are technically illeagal for U.S residents though their acceptance of U.S. players persists.)
3. The third type of online poker room is the legal, membership or poker “club” site that offer players both cash value tournaments and poker point tournaments, which enable the player to win points that they may then use to play tournaments and tables with a higher prize purse.
There are a great many of these three poker room type sites springing up on the World Wide Web with more launching every day it seems. Americans truly have a love affair going with Texas Holdem’ and Omaha Hi Low poker. I joined several online poker rooms and clubs in order to compare and contrast the different popular sites. I compared Full Tilt.com, Poker.com, BoDogs.com, and Pokertime.com for over a month as the test beds for my review. By far the best site, in my opinion, is PurePlay.com.
Pure Play is one of the membership/club format sites. They feature over $125 thousand dollars in total tournament prize money in addition to the “Freeroll” and Poker point tournaments, and the Free Play tables for novice players who are just learning the game or who are honing their skills before they venture into the cast competitions. It is not the amount of money that they give away each month that makes Pure Play a preferable choice for online poker entertainment, they have many strong attributes that attract players to this membership site. The first of which is the 1 month trial that they offer to all new members for a cost of $1. This is a no limitations trial which enables players to really test drive the software and get to use the site before they have to decide whether or not they like the site, the software, or the available tables and multi-table tournaments.
Regular membership is $19.95 per month, they do give players discounts if they buy a term membership package such as the 6 months or 1 year membership options. They also have special premium membership options for those players who are addicted to playing in online poker tournaments. Pure Play also offers some very attractive prizes in addition to the cash payouts for winning games and

Comparing online poker and traditional poker – Part 10

Do you multi-task? Chances are you’ll like online poker. There is a stark difference to the play of poker over the internet and that inside a casino or your friends garage.
Lets start with the face-to-face poker. In this environment, one must not only read the cards he is dealt but also the demeanor of those he is up against. Figuring out someone’s tell is almost as important as the cards you are dealt. If you are a champion of reading people, you can likely win a hand with nothing in the hole.
Online poker is you and your computer screen. Try as you may, there is no reading of the various avatars and pixels brightly lit waiting for you to fold or go all in. Online poker is playing the cards.
Granted, for experienced players, knowing how to bet will based on your positioning away from the dealer chip is equally important in either environment. It is perhaps much more to your benefit in online poker because of the obtuse nature of playing against an opponent you cannot see.
It must be said that if you have a hard time controlling your emotions good or bad in relation to your poker hand, online poker is probably for you. After you suffer a bad beat you can curse loudly and slam your fists in the air cursing the card gods, or when you destroy a player from a tournament you can casually laugh to yourself and how ridiculous it was of them to play their pocket 7’s against your rockets.
Never-the-less, another large advantage to playing online poker is that you can play multiple hands, tournaments, and sites simultaneously thus increasing your chances to bring in a bigger load. You could also just play a single game and watch a movie while surfing your email inbox all at the same time… all in the comfort of your own home.
There is something to be said for the feel of the felt and the clank of the chips weaving between your fingers at an actual poker table. To each his own, but if you enjoy the multi-task of life more than the art of the game then online is for you.
Good luck!
Poker games: Omaha Hi

Next to Texas Hold’Em, Omaha Hi/Lo is poker’s most popular game, finding its way into fringe cardrooms across the country, and holds significant popularity at online poker sites.
Omaha Hi/Lo’s gameplay proceeds exactly like Texas Hold’Em, with distinct exceptions:
1) Players receive four cards instead of two.
2) Players are required to make their hand with two of the four cards from their hand, and three cards from the community board.
3) The pot is split in half. The best five card poker hand gets half of the pot. The lowest ranking five card hand, containing five unpaired cards eight or lower, takes the other half of the pot. 5-4-3-2-A “The Wheel” is the best low hand, while 8-7-6-5-4 is the lowest ranking possible low hand. To qualify, a low hand must have five unpaired cards eight or lower. 7-7-5-4-3 is not a low hand because there’s a pair of 7’s. 9-5-4-3-2 is not a low hand because the 9 is not an 8 or lower. In the event that no player has such a qualifying low hand, the high hand takes the entire pot.
Gameplay:
Players familiar with Texas Hold’Em can skip this section. If the game has a separate dealer (such as in casinos), a player will be receive a white button to denote the dealer position: this player acts last on every round after the flop for that hand. The dealer button rotates one spot to the left after each hand. If players are to deal the hands (such as in home games), the dealer role rotates clockwise from player to player. (The button player will be referred to hereafter as the dealer.)
Omaha Hi/Lo is typically played with fixed limits. You are only allowed to bet in particular increments during each round, and there is frequently a maximum betting limit.
For example, in a $3/$6 casino cash game, you can only bet or raise $3 during the preflop and flop betting rounds, and each round only allows a maximum of 3 raises. If the bet is $3, you can only call the $3, fold, or raise to $6. No more, no less. If the bet is $6, you can raise to $9, call or fold. Once the betting is raised a 3rd time to a total of $12, you cannot raise again. You can only call or fold.
Some Omaha Hi/Lo games are played as pot-limit, meaning you can bet any amount between the blind bet and the size of the pot. Typically, live casino games play Pot Limit Omaha as a high-only game (like Hold’Em), though many online cardrooms and some casinos do play Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo.
Whether fixed or pot limit, the player to

One of the benefits of having a computer with high speed internet access is the ability to play games. There are all kinds of games that can be played from trivia games, word puzzles, and even reality games. The favorite of mine though are endless amounts of free online card games that are availabile. Here are some examples:
1) SOLITARE: Solitare is arguably the most played card game on a computer. All Microsoft applications come with a version of Solitare. Solitare is so fun to play because all you need is one person hence its name, Solitare. The strategy of the game is what is so enticing to me. When you think you are stuck and don’t have a move, before you know it you have won in convincing fashion.
2) SPADES: My favorite online game is Spades. I play the Microsoft online version all of the time. You can set it to your playing level: beginner, intermediate, or expert. The neatest thing about it is that you play against people from all over the world. Alot of times I play with nothing but English people but I have plenty of competiton against players from Arabic, German, Chinese, and Polish competitiors.
3) HEARTS: This is another one of the games that comes with your Microsoft setup. Though I am not a big fan of the game, this seems to be one of the popular games that other folks like to play.
4) BLACKJACK: Alot of people associate blackjack and poker with Atlantic City and Las Vegas casinos. That’s not the case on the internet. Just about all of the online betting sites offer free play where you can play against the dealer where no money is exchanged. You are playing for free. These sites let you do that so you can get used to how their particular site operates. I play alot of blackjack on BetUs.com but I also take advantage of their ‘play for fun’ option also.
5) POKER: As I said with blackjack, most online sites offer free play. Pokerstars.net, Full Tilt poker, and bodog poker offer free play so a player can practice and prepare themselves when they decide to be brave and play for real money. Freepoker.com is one site that I checked out and they even give you pointers and tutor you on playing competitive and tournament style poker.
Online Poker Games – Learn How to Dominate the Tables

In this age and time, there are already different kinds of online poker games. There are also various poker rooms for different online poker games. Each poker sites will provide different tournament schedules and different bonuses.
Every online poker games may it be Omaha High Low, Omaha Hold’em, Seven Stud Hi Lo, Texas Hold’em, 5 Card Stud or 7 card Stud, has just the same set of rules. The secret of winning a poker game is just about the strategies and some luck as well. To be a consistent poker winner one should be aware of the basics. Online poker games offer poker players a means to win in poker rooms and sites consistently. The player does not have to worry about competing against the house. In these games, the poker room makes profit from the rake on the table which is only a small part in a pot. The winners usually don’t have to mind paying the rent because they can collect most of the pot.
The most frustrating part in playing online poker games is which hand in the poker table will outranks another. So, poker players should be aware of the poker hands ranking. Flush refers to any five cards not in the same sequence but in the same suit. Five cards may be not of the same colors. If two or more players have a flush, the one who hold the high card will be the winner. Four o f a Kind means all four cards are of the same index. Full House applies to a three of a kind cards being combined to be paired. A player can’t have in any single deck two equal sets of three of a kind. On the other hand, High Card is being utilized to determine a tie if no one in the players has a winning hand. If in case a tie occurred in the highest cards, the second highest card must be determined. A pair is consisting of one pair of two equal value cards. Straight happens if five cards are not in the same suit but are in sequence. A player should always put into mind that a straight can never wrap. The post is split whenever there is a tie in straights. Straight Flush on the other hand, refers to five cards in the same suit and is in sequence. All the cards must be consecutive and of the same suit. The value of the high end of the straight is the determinant in ranking between straights. Royal Flush means five cards in the same suit and in sequence from 10 to Ace. Also, Two Pair consists of two pairs which are separated. The winner if in case tie occurs is determined by the pair which has the higher value.
Online poker games are definitely taking the internet by storm because of its continuing growth and popularity. Those games are being played and enjoyed by both starters and experienced players in the field of poker.
Online Poker Games – Which One Is The Most Profitable?

There have been countless studies done on poker players from around the world and hundred’s of online poker reviews posted by the most advent poker players show that online poker tournament’s such as Sit-N-Go’s are the most profitable overall. The main reason? You can’t lose your WHOLE ENTIRE BANKROLL playing an online poker tournament. When you sit down in a ring game aka cash game, you run the risk of losing your entire hard earned bankroll in one hand. Let me give you a little scenario. You think your aces are good, you push all in preflop only to be called by QQ and get cracked. Your hours of grinding at the .25/.50 poker tables, .50/1.00 poker tables, and finally playing 1.00/2.00 poker blinds is done the drain. It happen’s all the time to so many player’s, read the poker news or poker message boards around. There are TONS of them. You will see many horror stories and even entire sections of some forums dedicated to texas holdem bad beats! It seriously happens all the time and the only way to prevent this from happening to you is managing your bankroll and not going on TILT. The easiest way of managing your bankroll is simple. Stick to Sit-N-Go’s, where you only run the risk of losing a set amount of money (the online poker tournament buy-in) and NO MORE. Your losses are controlled and if your poker hands are not hitting or you are getting sucked out on for the night, take a break and recover tomorrow. Your bankroll can always be built back up, if you lose it all you will have to redeposit. Not only will you be re depositing once, you will be doing it over and over again just to play online poker.
You simply just need to deposit one time and that is it. Treat your bankroll as if it was your own kid. It needs love, attention, and care. Without these 3 elements, you will go broke QUICKLY. Know your poker rules even before you deposit for the first time. Play poker online free of charge before you open that wallet up! I know it’s a rush to win money, but you won’t succeed without the proper mindset and training. You can practice for play money until your blue in the face, but you won’t know how to play REAL poker until you start at the real money level. At the play money level, you will see many players’ push with total garbage and not a care in the world if they lose, tack on $1000.00 top prize finish, you better bet your last dollar these same players will play differently. To get a real feel of poker online if you are just starting out, try depositing $50.00 on Full Tilt Poker or Pokerstars and make sure that’s the last time you EVER deposit. Play online poker tournaments such as $2.00 Sit-N-Go’s to build your bankroll up. Once it reaches over $150-200 move on to some $5.00 Sit-N-Go’s. Once you master winning single table Sit-N-Go’s over and over again, the real profit and fun comes when you start multi-tabling! Multi-table your way into living off the profit’s of your Sit-N-Go’s all from the comfort of your own home.
Comparing online poker and traditional poker – Part 7

Is online poker or traditional poker better? This is something that a lot of people have been asking and to be honest I can appreciate playing a face to face game with a few friends and a few drinks… or in the casino where there is a bit of an added thril. But the simple truth is that online poker
is a lot better than the sctual face to face game in my opinion. I put forward five different reasons for my claim.
The first is probably one of the strongest arguments and that is the fact that online poker does not need to be organised as they are operating twenty four seven and you can play anytime you like. Most people have at least one person they know who lets you down at the last minute and then the numbers for a game become low and if they all turn up you need to be able to accommodate all of them as well as provide adequate room for drinks and snacks that will no doubt play a part in the night.
The second point is that you will always have a player base available to play online whenever you are ready to play and even if you get disturbed half way through a hand you can still return and there will still be players there ready to play a few hands so you can basically turn up and play whenever you are ready and you do not have to wait for anybody to come round or anything else.
The third is one of the most important reasons why I believe online poker to be better and that is there are no time restrictions on how long you play for whether you just want to play a few hands or if you want to play for a few hours it is up to you. In regards to real life you can only play for so long before someone has to go home and then the game is over. If you play online then you can play until whatever time suits you even it means a twenty four hour poker bender, you can if you want to.
The fourth reason that online poker is better is quite similar to the third point and that is you can play at anytime of the day and if you have the fun task of trying to tie down six of your mates to come round on the same night then you will know that it can sometimes be a difficult thing to pull off. With poker websites open twenty four hours a day, even if you work unsociable hours there is always a poker site with players on them waiting to play.
The last and probably most significant reason that I think online poker is better is that if you have to go and do something else then you can whereas if you are hosting
a poker night with your pals you cannot just say you have had enough and kick them out so you are stuck there until the last person leaves.
Online poker gives you the freedom to play when you want, for as long as you want, and you won’t be left footing your friends’ fast food and snacks bills!
