The basics of online poker. Online poker sites flourished for several years here in the United States. The US government felt the need to abolish sites in the USA. Now,if you wish to play for cash an overseas site is almost the only option. Millions of Americans play various forms of online poker everyday from free play to big money tournaments. The games vary from Texas hold-em to razz. With stud and draw poker on some sites.
PRO’S of online poker sites are-
-only poker for fun sites will save you cash
-great way to kill time
– thrill of gambling
-enjoyment of friendly competition
-can find a game any time day or night
-can possibly win cash or prizes
-online poker tournaments give chances of long play for little investment
-live online poker sites give you the chance to play with people of all skill levels
CON’S of online poker sites are-
-highly addicting
-take away from family time
-can eat through your wallet
-hard to send money and get your money pay pal not an option
-not getting work done
As a frequent player of poker online the two ways we manage to stay out of trouble is…
-first we set a budget and stick to it
-second we joined a poker club, which for a flat monthly fee we can play in unlimited poker and blackjack tournaments.
On most online poker sites today you can set the maximum amount allowed to be deposited per day, week, month. Just don’t override the fixed amount. That would defeat the purpose.
For me the club has been the easiest way to stay on budget. They have tourneys starting every ten minutes or so. With payouts ranging from ten dollars to ten thousand dollars. Plus they have tourneys for prizes that can be anything from cookware to electronics to cruises.
Play poker online today and have a blast.
If joining a club is not your thing there are multitudes of online poker sites where they have penny games. On a fixed limit penny game with a hundred hand per hour average,if you lose every hand it will only cost you a couple of bucks per hour.
A Guide to Online Poker

The meteoric rise in popularity of online poker play might be heavily attributed to the convenience of playing from the comfort of home, but in fact there are a number of other advantages to choosing online play. In addition to the complete absence of a dress code, online players have access to a wider variety of game play and the ability to join a table at just about any time they like. The continually growing number of online establishments offer poker rooms 24/7, all inclusive game selection and a wider range of wager options to fit every budget.
Since online poker rooms lack the same exorbitant operating costs as their land based counterparts, the result is lowered betting minimums and smaller rake fees for the player so that the range of wager is enormously widened to include all types of bettors. Coupled with the vast amount of games readily available at all times, online players have no trouble finding the right game, at the right wager limit at all times. All kinds of tournament play, including the popular Sit and Go tournaments, are constantly available with all stakes and sizes. Multiple-tabling is another feature that allows the player to sit in on several games at once. Players are to get in many more hands in the same amount of time by moving from screen to screen. Keeping focus on each game is key, however, as this option can become a liability if you don´t.
Ease and Availability aside, the benefits of online poker expand to encompass the game play itself. Players are able to sharpen their skills in practice mode, or by using a free promotional balance supplied by many online poker sites. This is an especially attractive feature for those who are new to the game, but even seasoned pros need to practice or test out strategies sometime. With this option, all players stand to gain invaluable knowledge and experience, while risking little or no real money wagers.
In an online poker room, physical actions and emotions are not going to betray you as they might in a live game, and intimidation is a considerably lesser factor. The anonymous play is particularly advantageous to the novice, and can be very important when playing with a with a card shark who has a sharply honed ability to read other players´ tells (behavior). While there are subtle telling actions in online poker that can be picked up on, these are much more easily controlled and circumvented. With a little effort, they can be learned and used instead against your opponent. Detailed notes regarding your opponent’s style and previous play can be kept close at hand in a notebook – something you cannot do in a live game, and can be referenced and utilized at any time. Online players also have access to their own securely stored history, making it easy to examine and continually improve upon their game from past experience. Other tools at the online poker players´ disposal include easily accessible odds information and statistics, and the ability to use charts and calculators during game play.
Money matters, so it bears mentioning that online players save money (and time and effort) on what could be considered unnecessary extras – like travel, hotel accommodations, etc., when they opt to play the massive selection of online poker games from home. In addition, while playing online, it´s never necessary to tip the dealer – whereas in a live game, it is customary, even expected, that you tip the dealer when you win, in addition to the rake. If you spend much time at all playing poker, this small amount can really add up.
There are a few disadvantages to playing online poker as well, but for many the advantages far outweigh them. Ease, Availability, Game play, and Money saved are consistent factors, but online play can´t provide the thrill of face to face action or the buxom waitress supplying complimentary drinks. Fortunately, online poker play doesn´t preclude live play and many poker enthusiasts are able to find a balance that satisfies both their gaming preferences and entertainment needs.
Freeroll poker tournaments

An entry to win real money for free! Yes, you read that right. A freeroll is a free ticket to earn real cash. How many times in your lifetime do you get an opportunity for an event like this? This happens everyday at online poker sites and a few times a year at local casinos. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:off ice:office” />
Freerolls are a way to get new players involved in poker and to make them like the game. This type of opportunity comes often when you play online and should not be missed if you have the time. A freeroll poker tournament takes long time to finish, but it is free to enter and you can get real money to play poker with.
Finding freerolls is difficult since most sites have some sort of a category for players who can join a freeroll. One site which offers a lot of freerolls for everyone is pokerstars and Bodog poker. These sites offer a lot of freerolls on regular basis and can be played any time of the day. Although you need to make your own deposit for some of the freerolls, there are still lots of free rewards for free.
Since poker has become such a lucrative industry, many poker affiliates offer freeroll tournaments as well. Some sites such as Railbirds offer daily freeroll to their members. This is because they attract new players with these freerolls, so more people join through them, earning them loads of money in commission from which a small percentage goes back to organizing more freeroll tournaments.
It is important to realize that freeroll poker tournaments might not be good practice for the real game because most players in freerolls are donkeys who go all-in randomly without knowing anything about poker. This happens because everyone likes to win real money for free and that attracts a lot of players. On the other hand players who do know how to play poker do not play to the best of their ability because they have nothing to lose and are not putting any of their chips at risk. So you have to adjust to an extremely tight strategy to play the freeroll tournaments in poker.
One of the ways to win a freeroll is to wait and watch. This type of strategy involves taking very few risks, playing only premium hands such as AA, QQ, JJ, TT, and observing all the players on the table. This type of strategy works well in a freeroll since most players like to take risks in freeroll tournaments, you can just sit around and wait for good hands to hit you.
Another type of strategy which works if you get lucky is to go play extremely loose and try to get as many chips as possible. Since most freeroll tournaments only give cash to top finishers; it is important to accumulate as many chips as possible to save yourself during blind levels, to bully and to cash big! This strategy works well of you get a good run of cards. The idea is to bully everyone around; but be careful since most players in freeroll tournaments don’t care about being bullied and will call you with just about anything.
This was your guide to find the freerolls and to win them. It is important to enter freerolls that aren’t a complete waste of time and offer good cash. Make sure you check all the requirements to get in a freeroll, and also have some sort of a calendar with all the upcoming freerolls because there seem to be a lot of them at certain times.
Good luck and see you at the tables!

I have had my fair share of long days and nights playing non-stop online poker for many years now. It is addicting! My experience has led me to know the ins and outs of my two favorite online poker sites, Ultimatebet.com and Fulltilt.com, and I will share my knowledge so that all you beginners will be able to succeed. Playing poker online requires patience and control. Sometimes one ounce of frustration can lead to loss of chips, or worse, loss of money!
One way to gain money without paying any money is the freeroll online poker tournaments. Free roll tournaments will usually last around 4-5 hours, and begin with around 3,000 people. They usually pay the top 20 people left in the tournament, and the prize money varies with each site. These tournaments take time and some gambling. You will not always be sure about each hand, but do not be afraid of going all in on a good one. This gives you the opportunity to be chip lead, and guarantees your place into the final table. You won’t win every time, but if you are patient enough you can win a lot. I love Ultimatebet.com’s tournaments because they always start at the same hour so it is easy to decide when to play.
Sit n Go tournaments are a quicker way to win some money. They require money to play but the winnings will make up for the cost. Fulltilt.com offers a great list of sit n go tournaments ranging from $1.25 to play to hundreds. Winning one of those top dollar sit n gos can end up with thousands of dollars. It is amazing. Again, though, patience is crucial when playing online poker.
Other ways to win money are playing tournaments that require payment in chips. Fulltilt.com has tournaments where it requires a minimum of 250 chips and, if successful, you can end up winning thousands of dollars. Each time you win a tournament you will be entered in to another one until you are qualified into a top notch tourney. Playing smart is crucial when playing these tournaments because it does require first place for each one.
Online poker for fun is the key. If you ever become too serious, anytime you lose will feel like a tragedy! Remember to have fun when you play. There are some pros and cons to poker online. The pros are:
The ability to play for money or chips
Tournaments resulting with great rewards
Meeting people all around the world
Incredible fun!
Some cons are:
Sometimes unrealistic
It is gambling people! Possibility of losing your money
Players who wait till the last minute to play (It takes forever!)
Again, some loss of money if not careful
Lastly, I would like to mention that these sites are not scams. They are legit and is up to the player to determine the earnings. I currently had $1 in my account and I am up to $30. My friend had recently won around $400 and was able to take that money out and put it in his bank account. My advice is just to play carefully, smart, and take some risks!
Online Poker – Are My Cards Truly Random?

Online Poker 101
There is no shortage of online poker sites, many offering attractive signup incentives. Many people have the same initial questions and this article tries to answer the basic questions and concerns of the novice player. Once you have read this short article you will be ready to begin playing for yourself, be it for recreation or excitement, the world of online poker is waiting for you.
1. Are my cards truly random?
Online poker rooms use a random number generator to ensure cards dealt never follow a predictable pattern. A random number generator uses the same algorithms that are used in the SSL encryption technology. You are probably familiar with SSL encryption if you have ever used online banking.
2. If I win will I get paid?
The short answer is yes, if you have chosen a reputable site. Online poker rooms have nothing at stake in the games; they sell chips to players and distribute money to winners after the game. An online poker room makes their money by collecting a small percentage from each pot, referred to as the rake, which is in the area of 5% of each pot.
3. Are there any advantages to playing online poker versus live games?
The short answer is yes! Because there are virtually no overhead costs, online poker rooms have much lower rakes than a casino or live game can offer. Online rakes are usually 5% while a casino can have a rake between 10-20%.
Another advantage to online poker is that many sites offer free play, where you can get comfortable with how online poker playing works before diving in and placing your first wager. It has been noted that many novice players shy away from the poker tables at a casino because they are not comfortable placing their first wager blindly before being familiar with the rules of play. Online poker playing allows the player to break the ice with free plays so that when they are ready to begin betting they already have a familiarity with the setup and procedures.
Another factor that makes online poker more attractive is that the poker software will let you know exactly how much is in the pot, the amount other players have bet and the minimum and maximum amount you may bet. This is a relief for the novice player and also valuable information for the advanced player who can use this information to make more accurate pot odds calculations.

Texas holdem poker lesson number 2; find the right online poker room and get familiar with the texas holdem software. Being familiar with the software will enable you to get comfortable taking notes and also have options for the 4 color card deck to make it easier to see flushes. You can change the color of clubs to green instead of spades and clubs always both being black. It is much easier identifying cards and you will be less prone to making mistakes at the poker tables. Playing the right poker hands in Sit-N-Go’s is also key to your success. It is best to play tight in the beginning; folding usually the first 20 hands unless you see an AA, KK, QQ, or AK. You really do not need to keep playing weak hands and just sit on a good hand to take down huge pots. There is a lot of fish out there and it is only a matter of time until you take their chip stack.

Working Out an Online Poker Strategy

If you ask any of the German players that regularly play online poker about how they play the game, they will tell you that they use a poker strategy. They will also tell you that the strategy varies from game to game depending on the pot odds and the players. The first thing you have to understand about playing online poker is that it is decidedly different from playing across the table from players that you can see.You can’t really get to see the players, so there are no visual signs you can use to read them. In order to gain information about a player’s hand, you do have to place a bet. This translates into many more probe bets in online games and this many more probe raises just to see what the other players have.
With the rise of popularity in online poker in Germany and other countries of Europe, there is also an increase in the number of online poker sites. It is simple to join a site. All you have to do is sign up and if you are not sure of your skills, you don’t have to play for real money at first. This is one strategy that many professional players used to get started. This way you learn the rules of the game and gain more skill through practice without losing any money. Then when you do feel that you have advanced enough to play for money, you can start with low bets, which reduces your chances of losing any amount of money. Although you won’t win any great amount either, it helps you gain confidence in your ability. Having confidence is a necessary strategy for playing poker.
There is a limit in the amount of money you can deposit for chips per day in online poker. You can start to build your bankroll by winning or by adding to it with deposits each day. These deposits can affect the way you play because you know that when you lose you are out of the game for the rest of that day and you have to start building your bankroll again.
An excellent online strategy for German players is to play multiple tables. It is best to stick to two tables at first and then as you get used to switching between tables, you can increase the number you play. It is good to remember that even the veteran players rarely play any more than 4 tables at a time. You do need to have your eye on what is happening at each of the tables and if you find it difficult to switch from one table to another and still know what is going on, you shouldn’t play too many at once. However, playing multiple tables will increase your chances of winning and thus adding to your bankroll.
You should look at the names of the players at the table. Since most online players do play multiple tables, when you see the same name cropping up several times, you know that this player doesn’t have all of his/her attention focused on one table. Multi-table players are easy to bluff because of this lack of attention to detail. While you can use this to your advantage, others may also use it against you.
Do You Want To Play Online Poker?

Are you of legal age to gamble already? Have some money to spare? And more importantly, do you find yourself excited or at the very least, curious, about playing online poker? If so, then you’ve come to the right place. A lot of people who are new to the online poker scene feel somewhat intimidated and helpless when it comes to playing online poker for the first time.
And at times, their nerves get the better of them. So instead of forging ahead and playing online poker, they back out and simply try to feel content with just watching Celebrity Poker on television or other professional poker tournaments. If you’re new to the online poker scene and would like a crash course about it then wait no more because we’re about to give it to you in three..two..
ONE game is all it takes to get you hooked because poker is truly an amazing game. First, it challenges your brains. Don’t believe people when they tell you that poker is an easy game to win. It’s not!
But it isn’t as difficult as solving as Rubic’s cube. When you play poker, whether you do so online or live, you’ll realize that your brain is challenged to come up with different scenarios for the two cards you’re holding with your hand. With those two cards, you should be able to do the following: determine whether it has a good chance of winning, determine your chances against the other players and determine whether it’s time to fold in the successive rounds.
Secondly, if you’re worried about the game getting dull when you’re waiting for other players to make a move by folding, calling or raising a bet, you need not worry. This is because online poker sites have foreseen this problem so they made sure they offer their members a lot of cool graphics and distractions if they need to while away the waiting time.
After gaining considerable experience in playing poker, you may be able to make a living out of online poker. I kid you not! Online poker is easier than playing live poker because it offers helpful statistics that will let you know which rooms have big pots and which ones are populated by inexperienced poker players whom you could – - take advantage of!
But like I said, to be able to reach this stage, you must first gain experience in playing online poker. Make sure, however, that you don’t overdo it by bankrupting yourself in the process.
