Playing in an online poker tournament can be an exciting experience, especially when you win! Before playing in a tournament, however, you need to be sure that you are familiar with playing online poker, since it can be different than playing poker in a “real” setting. If you are just starting out in the online poker world, play a few friendly games first, or play some “fun” online poker games that don’t require risking any money.
Once you think you are ready to try playing in an online poker tournament, your next step is to figure out what type of tournament you would like to play in. One of the best ways to get your feet wet in online tournaments is to start by playing in a “freeroll”. Freeroll tournaments don’t require any entrance fee; you simply sign up for the tournament and play. The great thing about these tournaments, however, is that if you place high enough at the end, you usually win some actual money. Freeroll tournaments rarely have large cash prizes, though; if you want to win some real online poker tournament money, you’ll need to pay an entrance fee into one of the larger ones.
Entrance fees for an online poker tournament can be as low as $2 to as much as $1000 or more, depending on the cash prizes that can be awarded. Often, players will enter into an online poker tournament in hopes of winning entry into a real-time poker tournament, such as the World Series of Poker.

Some of the best poker strategies are learned in the poker world. Here are a few fundamentals that poker players need to learn before they try playing high-risk games. Poker Strategies have very little to do with the cards on the table. Instead, they involve strategies that play player-against-player, and increase the chances of playing successfully. If you want to be a pro player, or learn how to play in tournaments, then you need to know more than the rules of poker you need to know how to play the table.’
The first thing you need to understand is that entertainment’ poker and money making’ poker are played two different ways. That is why so many people go to a poker tournament expecting to win big, and are dropped in the first few rounds.
Unfortunately, I can tell you everything you need to know to make money. My dad is a good poker player. He has a special card that he carries into casinos which gets him some comps and keeps him out of video-poker and amateur table games. He taught my son, who can win $50 000 in an afternoon playing entertainment’ poker online. My son is always learning how to bet without losing his initial stake. When he can do that, then he is ready to play with real cash. The following are some of the theories that my Father taught my Son.
Have An Exit Plan
One of the best ways to learn how to manage your money is to learn how to invest in the Forex market. There are tons of free FX sites to practice. You’ll learn how to create an exit plan. Learn how to lose your stake with grace, and learn how to lose your stake, without losing your Net Wealth or Net Worth.
Hope is not a Plan
Gambling is taking money and putting it on a high risk Endeavour in the hopes of making money. Hoping to win is not a strategy. Poker players who do not win are usually those who have gone through their stake and are considering putting their watch in the pot. They didn’t come into the game with a good exit strategy.’ They didn’t have a plan.
Write your plan out. If you cannot write out a plan then you do not have enough knowledge to win consistently.
Learn By Doing
They say that the average business owner needs to work for 5 years before making money. The average author invests 10 years before writing a book that makes a little’ money. A doctor goes to school for 10 years before earning an income. However, too many green poker players expect to walk into the poker world and start making money. It just doesn’t happen.

Yes I believe that Poker is a sport. Or more specifically tournament Poker. When a person enters Tournament poker it takes stamina, endurance, strong mental aptitude. So many of the very things we all proclaim we are looking for in our professional athletes.
And like other sports, there are those who stand out in their field. If you were to watch The World Series of Poker you would hear about the Poker World’s best players and how so many of them are consistently in the money in the series.
Professional athlete’s make a living off of their sport. And professional poker players are no different. And like other sports, they get endorsements and fall into and out of favor with their public.
To be really good you have to be able to hide your body language. Like other sports, you can not let others know you are feeling beat. You also have to be able to rise to the occasion. If you lack endurance, you can not rise up to the challenge when you feel the time is right. You have to be able to stay awake and perceptive for extremely long periods of time.
And you can do what all sports do, play a sporting hand and show the new guys why you are so good at what it is you do.
So yes I do believe that Poker can be and should be considered a sport.
